We are looking for an Associate Director, HR Lead for Mergers and Acquisitions At Illumina, our HR team is highly-collaborative, creative, and enthusiastic about the work we do to further our mission through our people practices. We are growing and seeking a professional to join the team in a key role supporting exciting technology-focused acquisitions, as well as working with the Core R&D HR team across a broad portfolio of leading-edge HR initiatives and projects. The Associate Director will serve as the global M&A lead and work collaboratively with the HR team across all Illumina business units and sites as needed to support the successful value creation of new and emerging areas of technology. Sitting within the Core R&D HR team will enable this individual to be highly connected to the business leaders who are essential to the strategy and integration of these important additions to the portfolio. Illumina s Global Core R&D organization, with an exciting roadmap of ground-breaking technologies in both the clinical and research markets, will grow to over 2000 employees in 2022 and reaches across the Americas to Europe and Asia Pacific and China. This role requires strong analytical, cross functional HR project management and change management expertise - the individual will be essential in helping us achieve operational excellence HR for M&A, fueling how we scale to support rapid business growth. Responsibilities: The focus of this role will be to lead all M&A activities from due diligence to integration from an HR perspective for Illumina. This position will be a critical member of our HR team as we continue to build a best-in-class workforce and work environment through acquisitions and new partnerships. The key responsibilities for the role will be: As a critical partner and thought leader, lead the HR M&A team, and drive the transaction from due diligence to integration from an HR perspective as main point of contact for HR Build strong relationship and trust with internal stakeholders through the HR diligence and integration process Build trusting relationships with new Illumina teammates and serve as their onsite point of contact during the early days of new partnerships, enabling an engaged, values-driven, positive employee experience Provide people-related best practice and solution-oriented recommendations to senior leaders to support a successful integration into the company Partner internally to conduct employee-related data analysis and recommendations (e. g. organizational design, leveling, compensation, benefits, etc) within budget Collaborate with regional leadership and HR colleagues to help drive successful partnerships and integrations outside of the US Build out and continuously improve the HR diligence and integration process by identifying and developing process improvements, best practices, and tools to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the team and improve the quality of integration efforts Partner with Core R&D and broader HR Team to develop best-in-class processes, tools, and training to support future growth in M&A Lead key M&A projects and initiatives as required; deliver initiatives through detailed planning and management of scope, schedule, and resources (project management) Work with key stakeholders across HR, payroll, IT, and other groups as needed to drive the M&A process and achieve value deal drivers Represent HR Illumina as appropriate in discussions and decision-making around employment matters with target companies and key stakeholders, including vendors, employees and outside counsel as needed Coordinate financial and operational information relevant to the HR workstream throughout all stages of the project up to completion or termination, plus post-implementation reviews for completed deals Work to validate key integration hypotheses and develop a robust point of view around the integration strategy and its enablement through HR support Own and drive key deliverables during the transaction with the cross-company integration team Drive the successful post-close integration from an HR perspective, working collaboratively with business development and integration leads from other key areas of the business May also lead other key projects for Core R&D HR, aligned with growth targets and with high impact on attraction, engagement, and retention Requirements: 10+ years domain experience in HR supporting and leading M&A activities, experience working directly with highly technical R&D functions and leaders is preferred Proven communication and influencing skills with a demonstrated capacity to communicate complex ideas and business concepts effectively and with multiple levels and disciplines Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives, understand and translate human capital strategies to positively impact the organization, including senior level experience in talent development, organizational design and scaling, team development and organization effectiveness practices Strong business acumen and curiosity/interest in understanding the R&D portfolio and M&A impact Ability to travel domestically and internationally (potentially 20-25% time, will vary) Competencies: Strong EQ and proven ability to adapt to changing situations, self-awareness, and cultural sensitivity Ability and desire to build positive, trusting relationships with clients and with HR colleagues Global mindset, cultural sensitivity, and a deep understanding of the importance of building diverse and inclusive teams Confidence to have a strong point of view and express it even if it proves unpopular, driving to resolution collaboratively and positively Ability to articulate in business terms and connections to business results and use to drive decisions Systems thinker - the ability to quickly process large amounts of information, connect and integrate data into new solutions or a better understanding of problems Ability to break down and solve complex organizational needs with pragmatism and creativity Adaptability, tenacity, resiliency, coupled with a positive orientation Comfort with ambiguity, intellectual curiosity, and an orientation to learning Ability to address issues and act without significant direction, work independently and help guide others in sound decision-making Ability to absorb, analyze and process large quantities of disparate information and synthesize quickly with attention to detail Problem solver who possesses a high degree of judgment and can work collaboratively on complex matters Hands-on, "get stuff done" approach, results-oriented, highly organized, and a team player Ability to manage multiple projects Concerns regarding COVID-19 continue as positive cases are experienced in the communities in which we operate.
