Position Information

Description & Details: The Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME) Department invites applications for two full-time, Assistant Professor (tenure-track) positions with an anticipated starting date of January 2, 2023. Responsibilities will include supporting NDSU's land-grant mission of teaching, research, and service. Specifically, the successful candidate will be expected to establish a program of externally-funded research in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering and produce an excellent record of scholarly publication; teach undergraduate and graduate courses and supervise MS and PhD theses; and provide service to the university and its units, to the state and regional community, and to the appropriate professional organizations. Candidates with strength in Systems Engineering, Simulation and Modeling, Facilities, Production and Inventory Management, Quality and Microfabrication are encouraged to apply.

Work Schedule:

Full tim.e This position will be 40 percent teaching, 40 percent research, and 20 percent service.

Advertised Salary:

$80,000 - $90,000

Minimum Qualifications:

The new faculty member will:
  • hold a Ph.D. or be expected to complete their degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering or a closely related discipline before the start date.
  • have excellent speaking and writing skills in English
  • have strong interest and potential to develop and conduct sponsored research programs
  • have credentials to teach a variety of courses in industrial and manufacturing engineering, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels

have interest and an ability to interact and collaborate effectively with a diversity of colleagues and students

Preferred Qualifications:
  • have at least one degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering
  • prior teaching experience
  • experience in Artificial Intelligence
  • experience in System Engineering and Simulation Modeling
  • experience in Facilities Management
  • experience in Production and Inventory Control
  • experience in Quality
  • experience in Microfabrication
