Lunda Construction Company has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Safety Manager to be a partner to the business covering Eastern/South Eastern Wisconsin. The Safety Manager implements and maintains company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. This includes overseeing the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and making environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly. This position reports directly to the Safety Director.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Safety Manager carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include, but are not limited to: training and mentoring employees in safety; planning, assigning, delegating and directing work in collaboration with project teams; and resolving employee issues in partnership with Human Resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages day to day Safety Operations
  • Monitors safety & takes appropriate action to correct any safety issues or deficiencies
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization
  • Works to ensure construction progresses as scheduled and contract specifications are adhered to
  • Monitors activities at construction sites. Inspects construction site daily and works with contractors to schedule deliveries.
  • Assists Field Team(s) with the development and monitoring of the job specific safety plan
  • Reviews accident procedures with Field Management.
  • Participate in pre-construction reviews for upcoming projects.
  • Maintains MSDS and Hazardous Communication Program for subcontractors
  • Completes incident reports and distributes and maintains files
  • Monitors job site safety reports & meetings
  • Monitors all accidents and maintains appropriate paperwork and files pertaining to same. Gathers Monthly Safety Hours from subcontractors.
  • Maintains and conducts Safety audits.
  • Orders, distributes & reviews appropriate safety equipment.

Other Duties:

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings, and specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to discipline.
  • Develops and manages project safety incentive programs with Project Manager and Superintendents.
  • Schedules and chairs OSHA 10-hour & OSHA 30-hour safety courses
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Creative and resourceful in completing tasks accurately in a compressed timeframe
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations to include health, safety, and welfare as appropriate

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management or related field is preferred. A combination of education & work experience will also be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of2 years' experience in a Field Safety role
  • Ability to analyze situations, identify problems & recommend solutions
  • Understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, etc.
  • Implement, support & explain recommendations & decisions to Management
  • Intermediate knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, particularly in: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
