ESTIMATOR/PROJECT MANAGER

MUST HAVE STEEL PROJECT MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE

A commercial construction company in the Twin Cities who provides Structural Steel, Miscellaneous Metal and Ornamental Metal is searching for an ESTIMATOR/PROJECT MANAGER.

Candidate MUST have experience with miscellaneous metals and small structural steel projects PLUS have proficiency with Tekla program for modeling.

This is a SALES PROJECT/ESTIMATING position. As an ESTIMATOR/PM,


  • You generate your projects or sell your service to the client
  • You bid, schedule, organize and manage your project
  • When the project is complete, you reap 10% on the profitability of the project PLUS your annual salary base.

Eligible applicants should have:


  • Minimum 3 years experience in miscellaneous metals/small structural steel.
  • Experience/proficiency with Tekla program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Work with the client from the start of each project to ensure you understand the project scope and vision
  • Oversee the beginning of each turn-key project including details like permit submission and design evaluations
  • Create the schedule for each project and match talent to the job
  • Process change orders
  • Collaborate with the Detailer and crew to ensure the feasibility of each project
  • Conduct on-site meetings with Detailers, client and construction crew
  • Negotiate with vendors, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Prepare and submit project estimates to the client

Must have experience in the steel industry


  • Ability to read blueprints, structural drawings, and plan sets
  • Advanced understanding of risk management policies and procedures
  • Extensive experience managing budgets for large construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes and equipment
  • Analyze maps, blueprints, and charts
  • Design project plans
  • Write reports and estimates
  • Oversee construction sites.
