Director Of Product Management

The Director of Product Management will be responsible for forging a high-performing product team to innovate a range of next-generation end-to-end testing services required to grow Pearson VUE's existing customers and expand into new markets. Director Of Product Management owns product vision, strategy, and direction for a group of products that they are responsible for. Director Of Product Management manages a team of product leaders and managers.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Director for Product Management is responsible for a group of products and managing a team of Product Leaders and Product Managers to ensure Pearson VUE's testing services exceed market expectations in ways that sustain and increase our business in both core and new markets

Responsible for deeply understanding the needs of the customer and market demands and collaborating with stakeholders to define a vision, strategy and road map for the products and services that they are responsible for.

Responsible for managing and mentoring a team of product managers, providing feedback and guidance on product decisions in terms of how they align with the product direction. To do so, the director of product management should give feedback about the product decisions made to the respective product managers and the teams in charge. In addition to building a team of all-star product managers, the director of product management ensures effective collaboration among the individuals on the team and cross-collaboration with other VUE product and technology teams and the rest of the organization.

Responsible for managing product escalations and priorities and responsible for the prioritization process by partnering with business and technology leaders.

Responsible for defining key product metrics and enabling individual product managers to measure, track and report product metrics on a regular basis to the rest of the organization.

Product strategy and roadmaps are seldom over-communicated. The Director of Product management requires good communication skills to deal with the many different stakeholders. The Director of Product Management is responsible for communicating the strategy and roadmap for the rest of the organization regularly so that the decisions taken anywhere in the organization will be made with the product direction in mind.

Ensures the effective management of the entire product life cycle from ideation, product proposal and approval, prototyping and validating new features/products and ideas, and commercialization through end-of-life for all portfolio products.

Responsible for bringing new ideas, solutions, and challenges to product council meetings to lock in decisions and approval from key internal stakeholders.

Partners with Business Development, Technology, and other functions to align product road maps with business strategy.

Responsible for representing their product areas and communicating product road maps to customers in Quarterly Business Reviews and steering committee meetings.

Represents VUE in industry conferences, gathers market demands, and Intel on competition to continuously evolve and refine the product strategy.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Extensive experience in product management and execution of product lifecycle activities

Proven experience in managing high performing teams

Proven ability to foster, inspire and mentor a team while leading from a product-driven stance

Strong working knowledge of product management disciplines and/or PLC (Product Life Cycle) organizational design, operational expertise, and service infrastructure for increased efficiency and scalability

Effective management with an acceptable, flexible, decisive, and supportive manner

Effective in building and maintaining a highly productive team

Excellent communication and listening skills

A high level of self-confidence and energy is a must

Ability to effectively manage stress and pressure

Strong business sense
