Job Summary

The Special Assistant, Office of the President will play a key role in planning and managing preparation for participation by the President/CEO in public and private engagements in support of Sanford Health s mission, vision and strategic priorities. This role reports to the Vice President, Media Relations and Corporate Communications and works collaboratively with leaders and stakeholders to identify engagement opportunities and develop effective briefing materials. Supports effective preparation and planning to maximize internal and external engagements for the President/CEO in alignment with the organization's strategic and business objectives. Researches and identifies proactive scheduling opportunities to advance key priorities, support executive positioning and meet other key business needs in coordination with corporate communications leadership.

Manages an organized and consistent process for the development of daily briefing materials for the President/CEO. Prepares, facilitates and assembles the daily briefing, including backgrounders, meeting briefs, biographies, summaries and other resources for internal and external meetings, events and engagements. Collaborates with leaders to identify objectives and opportunities for meetings attended or led by the President/CEO. Coordinates with internal stakeholders, executives and subject matter experts throughout the organization to contribute to briefing resources. Works closely with the corporate communications team to ensure key messages and communications deliverables are included.

Conducts and synthesizes secondary research regarding the health care industry, people, organizations, communities and current events to ensure briefing materials contain robust, relevant context. Provides research, communications and planning support for thought leadership strategy and other projects as assigned.

Monitors healthcare, business industry, leadership and other relevant topics through internal and external resources to inform scheduling opportunities and briefing materials. Coordinates special projects as assigned.

Helps evaluate and prioritize incoming scheduling requests in partnership with the Senior Executive Assistant to the President/CEO. Assists with coordinating timely follow up from executive engagements.

Qualifications

Bachelor s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Political Science or related field is required.

Minimum of four years experience in an administrative, project management or communications role. Must have strong attention to detail and be highly organized with an ability to meet deadlines. Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills. Should be flexible and adaptable and work well in a fast-paced environment with a high sense of urgency. Proven ability to work independently, anticipate needs and exercise good judgment. Experience working with and supporting senior executives, board members or other leaders. Understanding of health care industry a plus.
