Job Description

Our architecture team is responsible for enabling engineering teams to build industry leading educational solutions. Our software architects work closely with company leaders, fellow architects, product managers and our engineering teams to advance our solutions. In your role you will help develop technical strategies, define epics for teams and guide technical decisions.

As a Staff Architect you will:

  • Design: Analyze requirements, clarify gaps, create high-level design and provide architectural vision to Engineering. Oversee detailed design to ensure architecture, quality and security standards are followed.
  • Innovate: Research emerging technologies, tools and processes in support of architecture and systems development.
  • Problem Solve: Break down complex problems, think creatively, optimize solutions, help debug and fix issues.
  • Set Standards, Strategy and Vision: Participate in the collaborative development of the technology strategy, technology standards, roadmaps and practices. Set architectural vision for a system, product platform or sub-functional area of Engineering.
  • Technical Consulting: Provide ongoing technical and architectural guidance to engineering teams and broader organization.

Qualifications

As a Staff Architect, you must have:

  • Ability to design sustainable solutions by incorporating architectural, engineering, operational, quality and security best practices.
  • Ability to effectively communicate architectural design intentions clearly through diagrams, flow charts, whiteboarding sessions and various forms of documentation.
  • Ability to effectively leverage AWS services to create cost effective, performant, scalable and extensible solutions.
  • Ability to narrow solutions to small number of feasible options, effectively communicate trade-offs and craft technical recommendation.
  • Ability to analyze detailed design to detect critical deficiencies and provide technical guidance.
  • Ability to break down complex problems into smaller parts that can deliver incremental business value.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience with the following Technologies: C#, .Net Core, Node.js, GraphQL and Snowflake.
  • Extensive Architecture and/or Technical Leadership Experience.
  • Experience in EdTech.
