Summary The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is the United States Department of Agriculture's chief scientific research agency and one of the world's premiere scientific organizations. ARS Postdoctoral Research Associates are hired to supplement a lead scientist's research on agricultural problems of high national priority affecting American agriculture. This position is with the Natural Resources Management Research Unit, Mandan, ND. ANNOUNCEMENT IS OPEN UNTIL FILLED OR July 7, 2023 Responsibilities Conduct research focused on techno-economic analysis of switchgrass as a feedstock for bioenergy use; Conduct a regional feedstock cost-rate model for delivering switchgrass to biorefinery locations in the Midwest; Report findings through publications such as manuscripts, articles, or other research materials Present information at scientific meetings Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This position requires a Ph.D with knowledge obtained in the areas of agricultural economics, agricultural engineering, landscape ecology, geography, statistics, agronomy or closely related field or a related field of study that has equipped the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Applicants must meet basic Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standard's requirements of the scientific discipline necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Economist 0110 - Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus or Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown, plus appropriate experience or additional education. General Natural Resources Management and Biological Sciences Series, 0401 - Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position or Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Knowledge of GIS software and ability to manipulate large databases in highly desirable Education This position has a positive education requirement.
