Test Engineer

Remote work may be available for the following states: AZ, AR, CA, IL, MA, MI, MN, NH, NY, ND, OH, SC, SD, TX, VA, WI

Position Overview

A Test Engineer is responsible for identifying, communicating, and strategically mitigating risks of application development throughout the SDLC through analysis, documentation, test planning, test automation, test execution, and test and application code reviewing activities.

Responsibilities

Must be able to...
  • Coordinate and provide leadership on a team level in developing risk mitigation efforts through test planning, automation, design, execution, and results validation with demonstrated traceability and business transparency throughout the development process
  • Provide documented requirements analysis, testing, and automation strategy by identifying and communicating testable expectations and criteria for development activities to assess, and mitigate risk surrounding a backlog item, user story, or other business request
  • Mitigate risk from unintended impacts of development through regular regression testing and by contributing to an ever growing, robust regression suite of automated and documented tests
  • Collaborate extensively with development software engineers to coordinate and review test code coverage and risks within the code under test for a holistic testing approach

  • Organize and present examples, and/or learnings around testing processes
  • Participate in the Testing Center of Excellence

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum/Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field or or equivalent work experience
  • Must have clear writing, communication, and analysis skills, as well as strong planning skills
  • Demonstrate proven ability to think logically and creatively for novel and scalable programmatic solutions in testing
  • Previous experience with business domain areas or software development
  • Must have at least one year previous professional experience with software test automation or software development as well as demonstrated knowledge of basic programming and clean code principles
  • Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen
  • Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body
  • Must demonstrate the following behavioral competencies; analytical capacity, attention to detail, communication proficiency, customer/client focus, ethical conduct, initiative, manages execution, personal effectiveness/credibility, positive attitude, problem solving, professionalism, project management, thoroughness, and time management

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience on an Agile team or in an Agile environment
  • Experience with Selenium, C#, NUnit, SQL, Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft Team Foundation Server or Azure DevOps Server
