Saz's State House Restaurant has been wowing guests for more than 46 years, and we'd love your help to keep them coming back for more! We want fun, energetic folks who love to hustle and have a passion for service to join our established team.

Our kitchen needs you! Saz's is slinging a lot more than ribs these days. Our seasonal menu is full of fresh items that need a little finesse. This role oversees a kitchen team to ensure prep work is completed and every plate headed out to our guests is The Finest.


The Executive Chef will collaborate with ownership and the management team to create delicious new menu items, as well as manage inventory, place daily orders, manage prep lists and team task assignments, and work a station during service if needed. Communication with management and the kitchen team is a must to be successful.


No two days will be the same, but the list below offers a general idea of our Executive Chef's responsibilities:

  • Use sales forecast, par levels and product inventory to generate daily prep lists
  • Develop and enforce line set up procedures and expectations
  • Facilitate receipt, storage and stock rotation of all product orders
  • Cross train all team members to ensure adequate staffing levels and foster teamwork
  • Work with culinary teams at other SHG properties to develop consistent ordering, recipe, sanitation and training procedures
  • Proactively address performance or disciplinary issues with BOH team
  • Complete projects as assigned by GM or ownership group; meet deadlines as established
  • Facilitate receipt, storage and stock rotation of all product orders

Our Executive Chef earns a competitive salary of no less than $65,000/year, based on experience, with annual bonuses up to $7,200 available for achieving established cost targets. Our Executive Chef eligible for a $5000 hiring bonus paid in segments throughout the first year on the team!

Requirements:

To be unexpectedly, over-the-top amazing in this role, the Executive Chef will need to work a variety of shifts, including events and weekends. This full time role will work a minimum of 50 - 55 hours per week, and sometimes more depending on business volume.


Our Executive Chef will need 3+ years culinary experience and more than 1 year's experience in a leadership role. Culinary education would be a bonus, but isn't required.

Essential job functions

  • Squat, kneel, climb ladders or step stools as needed
  • Use industrial cleaning chemicals
  • Grip objects and tools (including wet or slippery items); utilize fine motor skills
  • Stand up to 12 hours at a time
  • Lift up to 50 lbs to chest level and up to 30 lbs overhead
  • Ability to communicate verbally in English; ability to communicate in Spanish beneficial but not required
  • Ability to read English; ability to read and write Spanish beneficial but not required
  • Consistent, timely attendance on a varying schedule of shifts including morning, evening, closing and/or weekends
  • Understanding of metric system of measurement
