Job Summary

The Farm Accountant will assist with farm data collection as part of the Midwest Farms accounting team. This position will report to the Farm Controller in Park Rapids, MN and will be responsible for maintaining accurate data from farm operations and agronomy to be used for financial reporting and farm analysis by the FP&A team.

The Midwest Farms include RD Offutt Farms Co. and related entities that consist of farming operations across the upper Midwest in North Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin. Midwest Farms have a long history in the agricultural production industry and would like to add a team member to assist in the organization's data management.
Job Duties Include
  • Input and review agronomy data including crop protection product applications, irrigation events, field lists, seed, and other crop tracking metrics.
  • Collect and import load and trucking data for crop shipments.
  • Assist accounting team with inventory reporting for month-end processes.
  • Organize and file produce receipts and inspections from customers.
  • Assist farm personnel with weight scale operation during harvest and planting.
  • Assist administrative staff with invoicing land renters.
  • Review payroll coding to ensure consistency across farm operations.
  • Code and review transactional data including invoice coding.
  • Support farm controller and farm administrative staff.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork.
  • Cultivates professional relationships with agronomy, operations, accounting, and finance team members.
  • Participate in all company/location driven communication efforts, including open book meetings, huddles, department meetings and other related efforts.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
  • Be a self-starter; ability to work independently as well as with other personnel and management
  • Represent self and company in a professional and positive manner
  • Attend required company meetings and training and participate in constructive discussion
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook
  • Conduct self in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of R.D. Offutt Company
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance
  • 2 years of work-related experience in an applicable field
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Team Player
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • 15% travel required
  • Candidate must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship
