Job Summary A key constituent of the Revenue Cycle organization-wide, this position contributes to Monument Health's financial strength, compliance, and overall performance by serving in a quality position for coding, primary focus is ICD diagnosis and procedure codes, Diagnosis Related Group, Complication, Comorbidity, and Major Complication and Comorbidity coding, Present on Admission Indicator assignment, with a secondary focus on CPT procedure codes. The position is responsible for evaluating the accuracy of codes, DRGs, and POA indicators, and will evaluate specific patient records which have been audited and code, DRG, or POA changes have been submitted by the payer. The position is responsible for specialized training and monthly training of staff in ICD, DRG, POA concepts. The position will prepare a summary of audited work. Understands the Revenue Cycle Admission/EMR/Abstracting/Coding workflow processes. Plays an instrumental role in the routine auditing coding and DRG accuracy. Schedules and facilitates coding practice sessions. Prepares individual coding audit summaries for each coding specialist. Identifies training needs based on auditing findings. Utilizes continuous improvement techniques to provide standardized training for new staff. Maintains up to date knowledge of coding/documentation rules. Prepares presentations for coding education. Assists the Managers with coding competencies. All other duties as assigned. Additional Requirements Required: Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies Preferred: Experience - 5+ years of Health Information System Experience Certifications - Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA); Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA); Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Physical Requirements: Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
