Job Summary:

The Senior Cost Accountant's primary role is to assist the Cost Accounting Manager in ensuring that the cost accounting function complies with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other reporting requirements while providing management with cost information to drive strategic and operational business decisions. This position contributes to the successful and timely month-end and year-end closings, report development, analysis of departmental spending and ensures that policies reflect those outlined in the Accounting Manual prepared by the Parent Company. This position also maintains Master data in SAP and helps drive the annual budget process.

Essential duties & Responsibilities for the Sr. Cost Accountant:
Prepares and analyzes production conversion rates (labor, material overhead, R&D, etc.)
Reviews cost variances including price variances, fx rates, production order, manufacturing under/over absorption, and material surcharge variances.
Prepares reporting of department spending and supports analysis for potential cost savings.
Monitors and runs standard cost rolls (standard/variant configured costing).
Maintain and test cost accounting relevant master data in SAP.
Prepares cost analysis for new products and materials.
Supports Lean/Kaizan production/logistics activities and analysis of project savings.
Monitoring and communicating progress of cycle counting process.
Other tasks as requested

Month/Quarter/Year-End:
Analyze P&L accounts and prepare journal entries as necessary to close accounts/cost centers.
Prepare reconciliation of Inventory
Responsible for the preparation and analysis of the internal monthly financial reports (e.g. margin report, income statement, etc.)
Understands and explains the financial results and implications of transactions to departmental managers in order to drive improved financial results for the organization and provides recommendations where possible.
Reviews and completes quarterly and year-end audit schedules for the external auditors.
Prepare reporting and journal entries for inventory reserves for aging, net realizable value, excess and obsolete, and used equipment.

Develops and automates routine and special reports.
Trains others in the use of the reporting tools and provides guidance regarding the best and most efficient uses of these tools.
Adds value-added meaning and analysis to reports.
Presents report analysis to manager and others.

Requirements for the Sr. Cost Accountant :
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience
Master's Degree in Accounting and/or CPA/CMA is preferred but can be substituted with relevant experience in accounting.
Take initiative to understand other roles within the group and be willing to support the team in critical times of need.
Proficient computer skills: Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 6. SAP, IBP, BPC, BW, Analysis Software/Add-ins would be a plus.
