Date Posted: 2022-07-11-07:00 Country: United States of America Location: CADMN: FS Kidde Detector 6901 West 110th Street, Minneapolis, MN, 55438 USA The Principal Electrical Engineer leads and manages the hardware aspects of products throughout their entire lifecycle. The chosen candidate will own the hardware architecture and design execution, along with processes, tools, and metrics during new product development and on-going sustaining activities. Major Job Functions: + Lead hardware strategic planning, concept generation, architecture definition, and translation to system/subsystem/component definitions, with a focus on reliability, safety, and sustainability. + Provide technical leadership to Electrical Engineering team members. + Lead the capture of electrical requirements and associated rationale(s) for regulated products. + Work closely with Embedded Firmware Engineers to develop strategies for Hardware/Firmware integration and diagnostic coverage. + Manage tools and processes necessary to ensure traceability from requirements to test cases. Use Agile methodology for hardware development, with clear communication back to project stakeholders. + Follow development processes, lead technical reviews, ensure product requirements comply with company standards, and properly document work deliverables. + Work closely with technical and subject matter experts to ensure accurate and complete use case coverage and regulation compliance. + Ensure that designs are rigorously documented, tested, and controlled. + Work closely with Test Engineers to develop and execute hardware tests. + Provide work breakdown plans and task estimates in support of project estimates and management. + Participate in roadmap planning and identify competency/resource gaps and implement plans to close the gaps. + Develop metrics to track and report progress, as well as identify areas for improvement. + Support multiple product development programs at a given time. + Develop and implement risk mitigating solutions. Qualifications: + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant field. + 9+ years of experience with the development of electro-mechanical equipment. + Must have led the development of at least one product development effort from inception through market launch. Platformed product development desired. + Possess a thorough knowledge of design practices for regulated products. High hazard applications (Industrial Life Safety, SIL2) knowledge is strongly preferred. + Demonstrated experience with Agile methodologies and tools (Kanban, Scrum, JIRA). + Strong communication and writing skills for collaboration with project stockholders (Product Managers, Customers, and other Engineers). + Skilled in collaborating with other engineers to distill market needs into defined technical requirements and system/subsystem/component architectures. + Ability to work both collaboratively and independently on assignments to foster continuous improvement of team functions and deliverables. + Experience across all phases of the program development lifecycle, from requirements, capture through design, implementation, and test. + Experienced with FMEAs and developing control techniques to mitigate risks. + Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to lead process improvement activities. _Carrier is An Equal_ _Opportunity/Affirmative_ _Action Employer.
