Software Engineer Site Re liability Engineering (SRE)

The goal of the team is to support reliability, uptime appropriate to users' needs , and a fast rate of improvement. Site Reliability Engineering combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. The team will be responsible for monitoring systems capacity and performance. Our software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure, and eliminating work through automation.

Our team members will also be able to understand complex culture of diversity, intellectual curiosity, and problem solving.

Position Overview

The Software Engineer is responsible for understanding and architecting the data structures. In this role you will be creating, improving, and managing DataDog dashboard operations. This includes, but is not limited to, importing, cleaning, transforming, validating and modeling data from variety of sources.  The position's focus is to add value to designs and methodologies, including long range and IT objectives, and to navigate the team to successful outcomes.
Responsibilities

Must be able to...

  • Architect highly complex data structures and flows from source to target with efficiency and scalability in mind
  • Work closely with developers to understand needs and translate those into data model designs
  • Assist in preparation of creating and managing DataDog dashboard operations and reports on a regular basis. As well as perform Systems Monitoring Toolset and instrumentation
  • Analyze data and provide data support to monitor usage of the website
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Collaborate with business key stakeholders to define Key Performance Indicators and Identify potential opportunities through Key Performance Indicator statistics and results
  • Through data validation, filter and "clean" data by reviewing reports, and performance indicators to locate and correct tagging problems
  • Assist in maintaining analytic results derived from third party analytic tools.
  • Be a domain expert and thought leader in system design, software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews
  • Perform all Software Engineer tasks responsibilities at 'mastery' level; demonstrating expertise in Software Engineering processes at Digi-Key 
  • You'll provide global technical leadership across Site Reliability Engineering and Product Engineering teams
  • Provide guidance to other team members on managing availability and performance of mission critical services, building automation to prevent problem recurrence, and building automated responses for non-exceptional service conditions
  • Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards, and cultivate innovation and collaboration
  • Monitor the quality of the software produced by the team in terms of best practices, architecture, maintainability, durability, and efficacy
  • Manage projects priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Demonstrate proven behavioral skills, including being a team player, sound thinking and judgment, achieving results, relating to people, managing work effectively, and leading by example
  • Rotating on-call support - "own your code"

  • Assistance with administration of software and hardware related to data platforms
  • Provide tactical support for complex questions and concerns related to the data
  • Demonstrating proven behavioral skills, including being a team player, sound thinking and judgment, achieving results, relating to people, managing work effectively, and leading by example
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for responsible areas
  • Teaches and mentors less experienced Data Analysts

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum/Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT or analytics related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0, or relevant work experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in data processing, document management, or relevant experience in IT
  • Must be detail Orientated
  • Continually striving to gather current knowledge and information relevant to IT needs to achieve results
  • Actively exchange ideas with others and build on their ideas to identify new solutions
  • Able to work independently or collaboratively and maintain a positive attitude
  • Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time

  • Knowledge of the Electronic Components Distribution business
  • Basic knowledge & Training of Analytics Platforms
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen
  • Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two-year degree in Marketing, Economics, Mathematics, Business Administration or similar area of study or equivalent, relevant work experience
  • Experience working with APM and RUM tools - DataDog
