GENERAL SUMMARY

Position is responsible for welding on a variety of items, which may be subject to heavy stress or load. Usually welding for mechanical strength.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Basic skills in oxy-acet. torch operation, heliarc skills and the ability to weld pressurized application
2. Use calipers, weld gauges, tape measures and other welding hand tools
3. Prepare welded assemblies for for cosmetic finishing using grinding and sanding
4. Welds production in various metals using various types of welding processes in various positions anything from 20 gauge to 1/2 plate
5. Welds must pass destructive and non-destructive testing based on certification requirements per individual product
6. Setup fixtures and lay outs for productin and prototype piece parts
7. Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards
8. Responsible for the general maintenance of both machinery and plant area, including cleaning and maintenance of welding machines and all tools involved in daily production
9. Performs all job assignments as instructed by the Group Lead, Assistant Plant Manager and/or Vice President, Operations
10. Abides by all policies, procedures, and guidelines of the company including good common sense safety practices.

Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

• 3-5 years full time welding experience or technical certificaton
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Flexible, ability to work in a fast pace constantly changing environment where extra hours may be needed to achieve tight deadlines
• Must be motivated individual in achieving excellence
• Employees are required to wear a welding shield or eye protection when not welding and steel toed shoes.
• Ear Protection is available and encouraged in all areas of the shop.
