Research and Development Engineering Intern

Position Overview:

The primary focus of this engineering intern position is to work with the electrical and electronic components of Digi-Key's Research & Development prototyping projects. The position requires curiosity and a desire to learn new things and produce improvement results.

Responsibilities:

Must be able to...

• Read and understand circuit schematics
• Solder SMD components onto PCBs
• Read and write microcontroller firmware in C
• Work with the Research & Development team on prototype projects

Other Typical Tasks...

• Use basic diagnostic and measurement equipment on physical components as needed
• Troubleshoot existing designs as part of the learning process

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Minimum/Essential Qualifications :

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or Similar Degree
• Ability to learn and perform multiple tasks quickly and accurately
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as a team player
• Computer Experience
• Good work ethics
• Critical thinking skills, ability to think outside the box
• Able to twist or bend and occasionally climb stairs
• Able to reach with hands and arms above shoulder level
• Lift up to 35 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs from floor to shoulder height
• Spend parts of the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body
• Must demonstrate the following behavioral competencies; attention to detail, communication proficiency, ethical conduct, initiative, personal effectiveness/credibility, positive attitude, problem solving, project management, professionalism, thoroughness, and time management.
