About the Job

POSITION: Full-time, nine-month lecturer position in Mathematics in the Math, Science and Technology Department at the Crookston campus of the University of Minnesota. Standard teaching load is 15 credits per semester. A competitive fringe benefits package is offered.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver high-quality undergraduate Mathematics instruction. Course topics include, but are not limited to, College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I/II, Statistics, and Discrete Math. The candidate is expected to contribute to further develop current and future programs; advise students; engage in department and campus service activities; participate in recruitment and retention efforts; and help expand our network with the industry to benefit our programs, student experience, and student employment opportunities. The candidate should be open to teach both on campus and online courses.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Mathematics or closely related field (or a master's degree, plus a minimum of 18 graduate credits in Mathematics); passion for teaching and student-centered service; ability to relate complex concepts to diverse audiences; demonstrated cultural competency; effective communication skills; and commitment to an experiential educational philosophy within the scope of the land-grant mission. Final job offer contingent upon complete background check and receipt of official transcripts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate in Mathematics or closely related field, full-time teaching experience in an academic institution, and experience with online education. Candidates possessing current mathematics teaching licensure are especially encouraged to apply. Doctorate required for appointment as lecturer.
