The Role You'll Play
Are you a proactive, hands-on buyer/planner who is eager to take your career to the next level? As the Buyer II for this specialty tire company, you'll be the primary representative of the procurement team onsite and collaborate cross-functionally to meet the materials needs of this large plant. You will act as the strategic liaison between the suppliers and the plant team bringing your expertise to resolve any challenges. As part of the plant leadership team, you will have extensive opportunities to implement process improvements and innovative ideas. A consistent, high performer in this position will be set up for limitless growth potential in procurement or operations. Required Skills & Experience:
Bachelor's degree
5+ years of work experience, including any of the following:
Basic buying (working with POs) and MRP experience
Basic planning experience
Experience buying for a manufacturing factory
Familiar Kanban systems
Comfortable being on the plant floor
Proven track record of internal & external collaboration to improve processes
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or related
Experience being on teams implementing Kanban systems
Previous steel buying experience
Proven track record of driving cost reduction through purchasing of materials and collaboration with suppliers.
Demonstrated negotiation and analytical skills
Course work toward professional purchasing certification
Technical Skills:
Tech-savvy
Strong Excel skills (V-lookups & pivot tables, preferred)
PowerPoint skills (presenting ideas for changing suppliers, cost reduction ideas, etc)
MRP System experience (they use JDE E1)
