Our client is looking for a Controller to join our growing team. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a well-funded, high-growth SaaS business in a key leadership position reporting directly to the CFO. The Controller will play a critical role in helping the company scale by developing a world-class team that drives and operationalizes best-practice processes, systems, tools, and reporting capabilities. This is a big role that requires both an experienced, strategic leader and a hands-on operator to guide a fast-growing organization.


The Role




    • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing accounting team

    • Lead and support end-to-end accounting function and all related activities

    • Develop, maintain, and enhance accounting policies and internal controls; ensure ongoing compliance

    • Lead and manage financial statement preparation and annual audit process

    • Manage month-end close process; drive improvements in speed, efficiency, and accuracy

    • Manage deal-desk, develop related protocols to review contracts and ensure proper revenue recognition

    • Lead research and documentation of technical accounting issues in accordance with GAAP

    • Assist CFO and other senior executives with special projects and analyses, such as product profitability, pricing controls, and process optimization

    • Assist and drive IPO readiness planning as applicable

    • Serve as financial and operational process improvement champion; demonstrate a passion for operational excellence and plan proactively to ensure the finance team and infrastructure can support the growth expected of the business; develop and implement new systems as the Company scales.

    • Set and communicate team vision and motivate the team to success; measure accomplishments, hold people accountable, and give constructive feedback to facilitate professional development.



What we are looking for


We are always looking for new team members who will add to our culture and have a strong passion for impact. In particular, the Corporate Controller will have experience with:





      • Full cycle of AP, AR, and Payroll functions, business processes and all areas of accounting

      • Monthly, quarterly, and annual close

      • US GAAP accounting standards and SOX controls

      • External financial statement audits

      • Integrated financial systems including ERPs, billing & AR, payroll, purchasing, payables, and financial planning & reporting systems

      • Assessment, development, and implementation of internal controls and related systems




Specific qualifications:





      • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

      • Active CPA license (preferred)

      • 10+ years of experience

      • Public accounting/audit firm background (ideally Big4) and 5+ years of experience leading accounting teams




Background experience:





      • Industry Experience: 5+ years at software/SAAS, data & analytics, HealthTech, FinTech, or other similar technology companies

      • SaaS Experience: extensive experience and a strong understanding of cloud-based software and software-as-a-service (SaaS) business models with strong background in SaaS metrics, analytics, and accounting.

      • Financial Systems: extensive experience with implementation, enhancement, and automation of financial systems, tools, and processes. Will love and embrace technology as a tool to deliver amazing and efficient results; experience with NetSuite and Salesforce desired.




General skills:





      • Team Building & Talent Development: demonstrable track record of building and developing high-performing teams and talent in scale-up environments; strong mentor and coach.

      • Operations Experience: deep experience working and partnering with all functional areas of business; a leader capable of contributing to both day-to-day tactical goals and long-range strategic planning.

      • Broad Financial Skill: capability and expertise across a broad spectrum of financial, accounting, and commercial matters.

      • Problem Solving: strong ability to solve complex problems and think in big-picture terms; ability to process information with high levels of accuracy.

      • Communication Skills: excellent oral and written communicator with ability to convey complex accounting matters to various stakeholders, including senior executives




Nice to have:





      • Public-company experience a strong plus

      • IPO experience a strong plus

      • SEC reporting experience a plus

      • Management of Tax, Treasury and/or Insurance functions a plus

      • MBA a plus
