Basic Function: The Human Resources (HR) Coordinator will provide administrative and project support to the HR department in a variety of capacities, including support for a multi-site operation including Great Northern Equipment (Rogers, MN), K&M Manufacturing (Renville, MN), and Jacks Small Engines (Forest Hill, MD). This individual will provide accurate and up-to-date employee recordkeeping and assist in the administration of assigned human resources functions including, policy/compliance review, time keeping, payroll programs and closely related activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Answers general employee and supervisor inquiries related to company policies, payroll, employee leaves of absence, and benefits. Partners and/or escalates complex questions to appropriate personnel when needed or as directed.
  • Supports the staffing process through posting open positions. Process open requisition(s) in the company's applicant tracking system and coordinates the completion of pre-employment processes. This person may schedule interviews, prepares offer letters and/or coordinate new hire onboarding.
  • Provides general administrative support to the department, such as: entering new hires, disciplinary action processing and filing, preparing unemployment responses, scheduling meetings, and coordinating special events by overseeing GNE's Employee Engagement Team.
  • Coordinates the timely and accurate filing of employment records. Schedules document/record archive and disposal according to record retention policy.
  • Assists with department projects and annual events as needed, such as: benefits enrollment and the performance management process.
  • Assists in the development, communication, and administration of the Company's HR policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems and related information necessary for effective management. Coordinates and communicates plans and activities with others, as appropriate to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.

Secondary Functions:

  • Assists with injury and other workplace incident investigations.
  • Assists with HR reporting and metrics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required

  • At least 2 years of administrative support experience, human resources preferred.
  • Associate degree, with coursework in Human Resources, Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Strong technical skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of customers, Company personnel and others.
  • Knowledge and experience with ADP HRIS/payroll systems preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Able to present information in forms, tables, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to operate under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle conflict resolution situations and take a stand when needed.

Preferred

  • Experience with ADP's Workforce Now HRIS platform, strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing and leading training.
  • Experience with multi-site operations.

  • Local travel may be required

Work Environment:

  • Office: Office setting is climate controlled and the noise level is usually quiet to moderate.
  • Warehouse: Warehouse setting is partially climate controlled and the noise level is usually moderate.
  • Manufacturing: Manufacturing setting is partially climate controlled and noise level is moderate to high. Personal protective equipment is required in some work areas and recommended in others. Closed toed shoes required.
