Job Summary
The Accounting Analyst is responsible for preparing financial reporting and research, analysis and journal entry preparation for claims, premium, insurance, reinsurance, tax, subsidiary billings, treasury, Federal Employees Plan (FEP), BlueCard, operating expenses, and prescription drug programs. This position develops balancing routines and designs exception reports that provide a means to analyze and fix out of balances in reconciliations and various reports.

Essential Functions
- Prepares monthly financial reports and statements for internal management and externally for various state and regulatory filings as assigned.
- Researches, analyzes and prepares monthly journal entries for assigned areas such as insurance, reinsurance, prescription drug programs, premium, claims, treasury, tax, operating expenses, subsidiary billings and pharmacy rebates.
- Performs account analysis and reconciliations for general ledger and bank accounts.
- Assists in preparing federal and state tax returns, estimates, and other tax related reports.
- Assists with annual cash flow projections to ensure adequate cash flow for the organization.
- Coordinates billing and financial reporting processes for The Payment Integrity Program. Creates and manages the status of receivable accounts and identifies inconsistencies.
- Prepares monthly statistic files for operating expense allocations and operating expense costing. Researches and analyzes data for reasonableness and makes corrections and/or updates based on company, system, and other changes.
- Serves as a backup for financial system administration for the accounting system and reporting tool.
- Assists in providing information and responses to various audits including internal auditors, state and federal regulatory agencies, and other external auditors
- Prepares monthly billings to vendors and affiliates for services provided by the company.
- Performs trend analysis to identify business process failures to determine root cause, corrective action or process improvement.
- Completes surveys, prepares presentations, and conducts other projects, as requested.
