JOB TITLE: VICE PRESIDENT ENGINEERING
The Vice President of Engineering will ensure the operational continuity and budgetary compliance of engineering, production, news technical, facilities and security including mechanical systems and tower/transmitter oversight. Develop and implement current and long-range technical operation plans, prepare departmental expense and capital budgets. Maintain three-year capital plan. Ensure that all projects are properly implemented and executed. Develop and update three-year building/future technology plan. Responsible for station compliance with FCC, OSHA and FAA regulations. Establish procedures and standards for operation and maintenance of equipment and proper studio operations. Oversee the management of personnel. Develop and implement systems to ensure fault tolerant and error free operation of Station(s)' broadcast equipment; daily oversight of local Hub/Spoke technology assuring efficient error free operations. Extensive knowledge of all broadcast systems and knowledge of government regulations and industry standards required ensuring the station's technical compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engineering
??? Builds and leads brilliant engineering teams
??? Represents as lead guru developing engineering roadmaps to continually evolve FOX's Engineering frameworks and infrastructure
??? Analyzes business and technical requirements to identify improvement opportunities
??? Evaluates solutions portfolio against third party offerings, and makes the big calls by selecting and maintaining relationships with third party vendors
??? Drives the transition to next generation engineering and designs new systems that meet security and regulatory requirements
??? Forecasts and creates the department's budget and manages spending
Collaboration & Partnerships
??? Consults with FOX Television Stations and FOX executives to understand business needs, to collaborate on future growth plans, and to develop Engineering solutions. You are the one that brings it all together!
??? Coordinates with Media Operations teams to automate systems and prioritize highest impact technology solutions
??? Partners with the Engineering Standards & Advanced Technology teams to design and build groundbreaking technology solutions for challenging business issues

??? Knows that data is critical for making informed business decisions and leverages it to understand and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of your amazing team's performance
??? Analyzes dashboards and constantly optimizes system security and testing to deliver best in class designs

QUALIFICATIONS:
Level & Role-Specific Qualifications
??? 8+ years leading media and broadcast engineering teams
??? Understanding of industry standards from organizations such as Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), and Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
??? Experience with production video and broadcast operations in both traditional and IP-based infrastructure environments e.g. IP routers, SDN, SMPTE 2022 & 2110, and best practices securing IP-based systems and networks
??? Expertise with on-prem and cloud-based storage and compute infrastructure platforms that power the modern broadcasting environment
??? Previous experience with free-to-air broadcasting
??? Familiarity with ATSC 1.0 and 3.0 High Power Television Transmitters including RF/Satellite and terrestrial distribution technologies
??? Knowledge of major broadcast systems and the vendors that supply them in areas such as graphics, transcoding, playout, master control, etc.
??? Proficient working with all the major codecs including MPEG2, HEVC, and emerging codecs
??? Expertise with Engineering frameworks and IT infrastructure
??? Able to specify HVAC and power requirements for all systems
??? Intimate knowledge of Ross Overdrive and iTX Master Control automation systems
General Qualifications
??? Ability to manage in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions
??? Ability to translate business and operation requirements into technical requirements
??? Varied and extended hours, weekends, holidays req. Local/national travel required

Preferred Skills and Experience
??? A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is awesome, but not required
??? Understanding of emerging technologies such as 4K High Dynamic Range, and HDR10+
??? Participation in standards organizations and ability to drive adherence to regulations and industry best practices
??? Excellent written/verbal communication skills required.
??? SBE certification is preferred.
