Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for company-wide human resources planning and development. This key position provides employee support while driving Human Resource functional excellence and process improvement. The Human Resources Manager will support change, personnel, and leadership and will be responsible for Human Resource programs and practices in a manner that improves company performance. This position champions efforts related to positive employee relations and takes a proactive role in shaping a corporate culture of open and honest communications. The Human Resources Manager is a key member of the leadership team, providing proactive engagement and visibility throughout the company.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to perform all duties and/or responsibilities of an HR Generalist
  • Responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and counsel for related policies, labor relations, staffing, compensation, benefits, and compliance issues such as affirmative action, EEO, safety and health, and worker's compensation
  • Work with the senior management team to identify the developmental needs of managers, engineers, and staff.  Decide upon training or experience needed and develop training programs designed to assure a highly successful team of managers and employees to accomplish business objectives
  • Responsible for performance review management designed to provide employees receive meaningful feedback about their development status
  • Work with Group Managers and Directors to Administer corrective actions and documentation for employee conduct that does not comply with company rules defined in the employee handbook
  • Regularly review requirements for compliance with state and federal employment related laws and regulations for organizational compliance
  • Maintain all related files and records including personnel files
  • Collaborate with members of the leadership team to provide guidance on a variety of subjects, including driving engagement, improving HR programs, practices, and processes, compliance-related matters, and strategic planning
  • Hands-on administration of FMLA, ADAAA, AAP, FLSA, GINA, COBRA, ERISA, Employment-at-Will, Harassment & retaliation prevention, Title VII provisions, etc.
  • Prepare and monitor the Affirmative Action Program
  • Respond to agency audit requests, complaint investigation/resolution measures, unemployment claims & appeals (OSHA, EEOC, DOL, etc.)
  • Work with Leadership teams to prepare annual merit plan proposals, conduct salary & benefits surveys, and present to management team representing for approval
  • Maintain workers' compensation records, OSHA reporting and administration of claims with the insurance carrier
  • Recruit, prescreen applicants, utilize appropriate selection tools, interview and make hiring recommendations
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks as assigned
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance issues affecting human resources' functions, elevates local concerns to the Leadership team

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Preferred Bachelors with 4+ years relevant experience or 8+ years of relevant experience
  • The ability to occasionally work outside of normal business hours
  • Self-starter and able to work professionally and independently
  • Strong customer service orientation, communication and presentation skills
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of group benefit plans and how open enrollment for benefits is carried out and regulated
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, discretion, initiative and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point
