Description

The Center for Cyber Security at the University of North Dakota invites applications for a non-tenure track Research Assistant Professor position within the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. This is a 12-month contract and is contingent on available funding. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Cybersecurity or a closely-related field, and a strong potential to contribute to an internationally recognized research program with sustained external funding and a commitment to high-quality undergraduate and graduate instruction.

The Center for Cyber Security is a research entity housed within the College of Engineering and Mines (CEM) at the University of North Dakota (UND). The center brings together faculty, researchers, and students working in the field of cybersecurity from departments within the College of Engineering and across campus. The ultimate goal of this Centre is to provide cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions/technologies by collaborating with industries to develop intellectual property (IP) and commercialization.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a competitive research program related to Cyber security.

  • Serve as a Principal and Co-Principal Investigator on research projects.

  • Conduct research, perform experiments, analyze data, and present the research outcomes at conferences and agencies.

  • Work with a team of interdisciplinary faculty to write large proposals, get preliminary data, conduct research, and write high-quality conference and journal papers.

  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate research assistants.

  • Maintain close communications with the Director regarding progress.

Required Competencies

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Proficiency in prioritizing work and making decisions

  • Ability to conduct independent research.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Engineering or any related field.
  • At least 2 first or corresponding author peer-reviewed publications in cybersecurity-related research.
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-doctoral experience

  • An established record of scholarly publications

  • Experience in writing proposals

Minimum Hiring Salary

Commensurate with experience

Anticipated Start Date January 2023, 12-month contract
