Tech Spec II - Completions Eng Certification - Mass Properties - Appleton (No Visa Restrictions) in GAC Appleton Unique Skills: This Certification Technical Specialist I position is for the Completions Engineering Certification Group. This group supports completion related activities for new designs of interior furnishings and amenities as part of outfitting new Gulfstream aircraft along with supporting other Certification related activities. The successful candidate will be generating preliminary and final weight and balance reports for the outfitting of aircraft. The ideal candidate must have knowledge of how weight affects the CG of an aircraft and be capable of calculating mass properties from engineering drawings using Catia. Additional skills and activities are as follows: Proficient in MS Office, CATIA V5 Analyzed mass properties impacts of customer selected options, internal and external structure modifications, systems, subsystems. Analyzed and accounted for changes in mass properties of sustaining and new development programs throughout program lifecycle Estimating and calculating component and assembly weights, moment arms, and mass moment of inertia from engineering drawings and aircraft weight and balance as a result of a collection of new design or modifications. Measured weight and balance of components, assemblies, and final products on certified scales, fixtures, jacks or jigs Took corrective action in the event of large variations between actual and CATIA weight. Coordinated mass properties requirements to support teams including maintenance, sales, production, logistics, flight test, flight operations and other disciplines teams such as design, structure and stress teams Generated FAA mass properties documentation meeting requirement of airworthiness certification including weight and balance manual, final weight report, weight supplements and equipment list Assisted with sales requests to analyze and provide customers' chose floor plan assessments in terms of weights Weighing of individual aircraft's components and assemblies. Knowledge of the applicable regulations governing weight and balance operations is preferred. Experience working within an ODA, FAA Repair Station environment or a Sales organization is a plus. Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor's Degree in engineering or technical related curriculum applicable to the respective job position required. 10 yrs in specific technical discipline or 15 yrs broad eng experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters and 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job. Position Purpose: Guides successful completion of major engineering programs, or conceives research in areas of considerable scope and complexity supporting the development and production of Gulfstream products and services Job Description Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions: Selects appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering issues . Anticipates and resolves complex issues in creative and effective ways, developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities . Approach to problem solving balances technical product, cost and schedule . Works without appreciable direction; work is reviewed from a long-range perspective for desired results . Exercises latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments, and makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative . Additional Functions: Maintains a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product . Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements: Advanced degree in engineering, or related curriculum preferred. The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
