About the Job:
1st shift starting at 5:00 or 6:00am Monday - Friday
As a Brake Press Operator/Fabricator at Marchant Schmidt, you will join a team of highly skilled individuals who use precision and attention to detail to turn roughly fabricated machine parts and machines into customer ready equipment that meet USDA sanitation requirements. Much of the work we do is custom stainless-steel work, so our work environment is clean and most of the work is non-routine.
Primary Responsibilities:
Set up and operate fabricating machines such as a CNC brake press, rolls, shears, drill presses and plasma cutting machines.
Perform transitional forming fabrication, square to round, etc.
Locate and mark bending and cutting lines onto workpieces
Develop layouts and plan sequence of operations.
Cut, form, and straighten stainless steel to blueprint specifications.
Design and construct templates and fixtures.
Verify conformance of work pieces to blueprint specifications.
Deburr parts before sending to next operation.
Maintain a clean work area, including sweeping the floors.
Help in other areas as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
1-year minimum previous press brake experience required, including machine set up and operation.
Previous experience in transitional forming preferred.
Experience in die selection for different material thickness preferred.
Sheet metal layout experience preferred.
Welding experience a plus.
Certified, or the ability to be certified, to operate a forklift and overhead crane.
Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions and apply fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Able to meet the physical demands of the job, with or without accommodation:
Frequently stand and walk; occasionally bend, stoop, kneel.
Lift and/or move 10 pounds regularly, 25 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Use manual dexterity to move and inspect materials.
Have the visual acuity to see near, far, and peripherally with good depth perception.
