About the Opportunity:

We have partnered with a highly respected Twin Cities based technology/manufacturing company that is looking to add a talented Cost Accountant to their team. The hiring manager along with the current staff are very strong mentors/trainers. Because of this, they are open to an Accountant or Financial Analyst who would like to move into Cost Accounting. Their cost accounting is much more innovative/progressive than most companies. The team culture is amazing, and they have a lot of fun. Cost Accountant Job Functions:



  • Manage the costing and develop a bill of materials of manufactured products

  • Manage input costs related to cultivation and manufactured products

  • Reconcile inventory on a weekly and monthly basis from sub-ledger to GL

  • Streamline inventory procedures and create consistent reports

  • Manage production/cycles and measure results and compare to budget

  • Manage forecast monthly

  • Measure manufacturing yields and results of in-process and finished goods

  • Communicate with purchasing on material requirements

  • Analyze cost absorption and performing variance analysis

  • Responsible for periodic inventory counts and developing controls around counting procedures

  • Provide recommendations to management on improving yields, reducing costs, and increasing efficiencies



Key Qualifications for the Cost Accountant:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required

  • 0 to 3 years of post-graduate Accounting/Finance experience (prior cost accounting experience is a plus but not required - interest in cost accounting is however required)

  • CPA or advanced degree preferred, but not required

  • Great communication skills

  • High attention to detail and strong intellectual curiosity


Compensation: $75,000 to $95,000
