State and Local Tax Associate - Fall 2023

At RSM, state and local tax associateshelp clients navigate the ever-shifting state and local tax laws. They developstrong working relationships with clients built on understanding theirbusinesses and challenges. Associates work on multiple team engagements eachyear, including several pieces of any particular assignment - not just onepart. Examples of the candidate'sresponsibilities include: Working on a team that focuses on a wide range of state and local tax areas. This can include resolving controversies with tax authorities, auditing for overpayments and underpayments of tax, implementing process improvements and risk mitigation strategies, and performing mergers and acquisitions due diligence Completing tax planning and research Preparing state & local tax returns Understanding tax regulations and accounting pronouncements Basic Qualifications: Minimum B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university Minimum 3.5 GPA preferred Meeting education requirement for CPA certification in the state where you are applying for employment or ability to sit for the state bar Travel to assigned client locations is required. Must have access to and ability to arrange for use of reliable modes of transportation to those locations Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax or JD Working toward obtaining a professional license (i.e., CPA exam, bar exam) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel Ability to work effectively on a team Ability to work and multitask in a fast-pacedenvironment The firm offers a competitive benefits package, base compensation, and an employee bonus program for eligible roles based on individual and firm performance per program guidelines.
