Shift Details:

2nd Shift: Mondays - Thursdays, 3:45 pm - 3:30 am; Fridays, 3:45pm - 8:45pm

Industrial Painters employed at Veritas Steel's Wausau location are responsible for reviewing the design, color, and specifications of fabricated material per code requirements. Industrial Painters have the ability to operate paint equipment, interpret blueprints for prime only or paint areas, and use paint and blast profile gauges. They prepare the paint to be used using viscosity cups and thickness gauges to determine the amount, thickness, and texture of the paint. Once the paint is ready, Industrial Painters proceed with applying paint using different techniques and tools. They complete the process by applying primers and finishing coats to achieve the desired outcome.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Apply coatings to fabricated material while adhering to code requirements and guidelines
Read and interpret blueprints for prime only or paint areas, drawing templates, and be able to perform layouts as indicated on the blueprint
Setup and operate equipment necessary to coat fabricated material as required by job specifications
Use proper safety equipment, paint equipment, paint and thinners, and assure that surfaces are adequately prepared for painting all operations
Maintain shop, equipment, tools, vehicles, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items and ensuring safety
Coordinates with shop supervisor and other personnel for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently, on time, and with no defects
Assists others as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
Adheres to safety policies to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and surrounding coworkers
Performs other related duties, as assigned, to maintain a steady flow of products through the shop and to ensure an efficient and effective work environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

High School diploma or GED
1+ years experience in industrial painting
Ability to learn to read and interpret blueprints, drawing templates, and perform the layouts as indicated by the blueprints
Commitment to work safety and actively participating in our safety culture

Quality, accuracy, thoroughness, and reliability of work performed
Willingness to learn and contribute to the success of your team

Physical Requirements:

Able to lift 40 lbs. and carry 30 lbs.
Must be able to push /move objects up to 50 lbs. of force
Pulling requirements up to 122 lbs. of force
Necessary to stand, walk, stoop, and kneel up to 66% of shift
Must have a good range of motion when reaching forward, shoulder to overhead, and bending
Agile fingers and thumbs on both hands
Lay face-up on the creeper and pull/push yourself with your legs
Must have a good range of motion when reaching forward, shoulder to overhead, and bending

Working Conditions:

Work is performed indoors in a large warehouse or outside in all weather conditions
There is regular exposure to dirt, dust, paint fumes, noise, moving equipment, heavy steel & other possible hazardous conditions
Safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel-toed boots are required; respirator required for specific operations
