Position Information

Duties & Responsibilities

The counselor position will require working with youth ages 8-16 and facilitating recreational programming in a camp setting. In addition, counselors will assist extension staff with educational programming, and help with set-up/take-down of activities. Occasionally, counselors may be required to help in the kitchen and with basic camp maintenance (mowing, outdoor cleaning). Work days will be from Sunday noon through Thursday noon. Two Friday and Saturday camps will be conducted during the season. The weeks of July 4 th and July 24 th are paid summer breaks.

Minimum Requirements

  • Counselors must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Experience with youth is preferred.
  • Ability to remain calm under stress and use good judgement
  • Ability to work well with a team
  • Positive attitude, responsible, mature
  • Good problem-solving skills, ability to effectively deal with conflict
  • CPR and first aid certification are required and will be provided if needed.
  • Lifeguard certification is desired but not required. If you would like to become lifeguard certified prior to the camp season we will pay/reimburse you.
  • 4-H experience is not required.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

  • Pay is $500 per week plus room and board.
