Position Description & Details:

The Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at North Dakota State University invites applications for a non-tenure track position in anatomic pathology. Candidates are eligible for both national and state veterinary loan repayment programs and prior individuals in the lab have obtained awards from both programs.

The NDSU VDL is an AAVLD fully-accredited full-service laboratory and NAHLN member, serving the livestock and companion animal communities of North Dakota and the upper Midwest. The laboratory averages approximately 13,500 accessions annually, with emphasis on food animal diagnostics, but with a liberal mix of companion animal, equine, avian and exotic cases, and a brisk biopsy/cytology service. The VDL is in a new facility as of Fall 2017.

The NDSU VDL is located within the NDSU Agriculture Experiment Station. NDSU is the state's land-grant institution and ranks high in the National Science Foundation's institution rankings. Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities are diagnostic service, consultation with laboratory clientele, and supervision as section head based on interest and experience of the candidate. Depending on the interest of the pathologist, opportunities for teaching, interaction with NDSU faculty and other scientists, and performing collaborative research exist

Work Schedule:

M-F, 8-5

Advertised Salary:

110,000+ Commensurate with experience

Minimum Qualifications:
  • DVM degree or equivalent
  • Post-graduate training in veterinary anatomic pathology
  • ACVP or ECVP board certification or eligibility
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with quality assurance system

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in veterinary practice and veterinary diagnostics
  • ACVP or ECVP certification or partial completion of boards
  • Advanced degree in diagnostic laboratory specialty, e.g., pathology, microbiology
  • Graduate of AVMA-accredited college of veterinary medicine
  • Personnel management experience
