Full-time, benefited position working 80 hours per two week pay period. Days of work are Monday - Friday with hours from 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Transports patients and assists the physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and the audiologist in the implementation of various types of treatment and clerical duties for all available services.

Responsibilities

• Administers rehab care programs or portions thereof as planned and directed by a Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist to patients of all age groups (pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics). Provide assistance in exercise regimens such as range of motion and in functional activities such as sitting, standing ambulation (on levels, inclines, and on steps), transfers, and daily living activities.
• Maintains open communication with the therapist regarding patient's performance/progress.
• Communicates with medical/allied health personnel regarding patient's progress, needs and discharge planning.
• Acts as an assistant to the therapist when therapist is performing tests, evaluations and complex procedures. Provides assistance with collecting data during treatment and evaluation sessions.
• Maintains a neat and organized appearance in all areas of the department; replaces equipment to assigned place.
• Responsible for daily and monthly cleaning and maintenance of rehab equipment.
• Maintains supplies of the rehab department.
• Repairs and cleans wheelchairs, carts and exercise equipment according to safety and infection control standards. Performs routine maintenance and safety checks of equipment and documents their findings.
• Performs secretarial duties as needed. File physical and occupational reports and photocopies forms. Checks charges for PT, OT, & ST. Assists in compiling stats.
• Assists in patient scheduling, team communication of schedules, and preparing therapists schedules for the next business day.
• Assists manager in coordinating and assisting volunteers for group PT and other duties.
• Assists audiologist in cleaning and repairing hearing aids.
• Assists in coordinating weekly/daily schedules for rehab volunteers (group PT, charts, etc.)
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Work requires a level of knowledge acquired by graduation from high school in order to follow written and oral instructions, perform simple calculations and to deal effectively with other people.

Previous work experience as a Rehab Aide preferred but not required. Time to reach competency on the job is three to six months.
