Position Information

Sport Management Position:

The Department of Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Sciences (HNES) at North Dakota State University (NDSU) invites applications for a 9-month Assistant Professor, tenure-track position in the area of Sport Management to begin in the Spring of 2023. This position's workload is 40 percent teaching (12 credits/year), 40 percent research, 10 percent advising, and 10 percent service. Responsibilities will include supporting NDSU's land-grant mission of teaching, research, and service.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate level courses in the Sport Management program and graduate level courses in department graduate programs; participate in academic advising of both undergraduate and graduate students; serve on graduate student committees; establish an independent line of research and publish in scholarly journals; seek external funding to support scholarly activity; be active in professional organizations; and provide service to the department, college, university, and community; work effectively with colleagues across disciplines and/or community organizations; contribute to department governance and foster a collaborative community across the HNES department.

The Sport Management program is an active program of 136 students with a strong and stable student organization. The program prioritizes experiential learning through national trips and active learning in the classroom. The Sport Management program has established industry partnerships connecting students with working professionals. The HNES department is housed within the College of Human Sciences and Education and includes five undergraduate programs, six graduate programs, and 30 faculty and staff members. There are approximately 500 undergraduates and 100 graduate students within the department (https://www.ndsu.edu/hnes/).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. PhD in sport management or closely related field from an accredited institution (PhD degree completion required by December 31, 2022)
2. Teaching experience within Sport Management or related field
3. Evidence of potential to engage in scholarly activities
4. Effective oral and written communications skills
5. Commitment to diversity and inclusion
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Evidence of high-quality instruction, advising, and mentoring of students
2. Peer-reviewed publications
3. History of seeking external funding to support scholarly research
4. Membership and involvement in professional organizations
5. Evidence of industry-related experience in Sport Management
