Position Information:

Description

This position is located at the Energy & Environment Research Center (EERC), an international leader in energy and environmental research, conducting projects for clients throughout the United States and the world. We are looking for experienced, aggressive, scientifically trained, and market-oriented individuals to contribute to the success of the organization by performing one or more of the following functions:
  • Develop technology to integrate multidisciplinary geoscience data with supervised and unsupervised machine learning workflows for reservoir characterization and monitoring.
  • Utilize practical, well-developed skillset to deliver innovative numerical programming for geophysical signal processing.
  • Motivated to support geophysical technology development specifically related to real-time monitoring with machine learning workflows.
  • Perform research and development on state-of-the-art geophysical technology.
  • Work with a team of geoscientists to develop creative algorithms for collecting, processing, and analyzing time-lapse geophysical data.
  • Efficiently collect, reduce, analyze, and interpret data, ensure quality control, and compile results in an organized, orderly format.
  • Work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and effectively communicate ideas, opinions, and solutions related to current and future project activities.
  • Prepare briefings, technical reports, conference papers, and peer-reviewed journal articles, and communicate technical results to clients and the scientific community.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate progress and status, and participate in knowledge sharing with stakeholders by partaking in or leading in-person meetings, Web meetings, conference calls, and presentations to stakeholders and by attending or presenting at conferences.
  • Possess excellent written, interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Some travel is required.

Required Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal/oral/written communication skills, including the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
  • Collect, reduce, analyze, and interpret data, ensure quality control, and compile results in an organized, orderly format.
  • Ability to conduct research and development of leading-edge geophysical technology.
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.


Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in Geophysics or related field.
  • Experience developing numerical algorithms.
  • Experience with processing and integration of geophysical data.
  • Experience developing machine learning algorithms for collecting, processing, and analyzing geophysical data.
  • Applicants will be required to present to the interviewers during the interview.
  • Applicants may be required to provide a writing sample.
  • Cover letter and resume or curriculum vitae are required.
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Geophysics.
  • Research and development experience delivering innovative algorithms for geophysical signal processing with reservoir characterization and monitoring applications.
  • Experience developing algorithms based on physical and machine learning principles.
  • Practical experience with Python, C++, Mathematica, Matlab, Seismic Unix, and Madagascar.
  • Experience collecting geophysical field data.
  • Experience with integration and analysis of geophysical data based on machine learning workflows.
  • Peer-reviewed publications as a lead author, including conference presentation experience.
  • Research and development experience working with a team of geoscientists to develop creative algorithms for collecting, processing, and analyzing geophysical data.


Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$70,000 / year; Exempt; Benefited; Full-time

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with flexibility to accommodate work activities/work life balance. Travel may be required.
