Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design actuarial reports and analytics to support Part C and Part D bid development
  • Conduct and evaluate studies on risk adjustment, utilization, and health care costs
  • Perform mathematical analyses and actuarial modeling to provide clients with statistical findings and conclusions
  • Coordinate actuarial work across different client businesses
  • Collaborate across Government Program Actuarial teams and other business within Optum Advisory Services
  • Communicate findings to internal and external customers
  • Oversee and peer review the work of analysts and staff within the projects
  • Manage and mentor analysts and staff within the practice

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA) or Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation
  • 6+ years of actuarial experience in the health care industry
  • 1+ years of experience with SAS, SQL, and large claim datasets
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field
  • Deep experience with health insurance products, particularly Medicare Advantage and Medicaid
  • Experience with bidding/pricing, risk adjustment, and advance analytics
  • People leader experience
  • Advanced knowledge of medical claims data
  • Well-organized with the ability to manage complex projects and enterprise functions across multiple lines of business and internal stakeholders
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams and project teams effectively

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada residents is $97,300 to $176,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
