SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Field Agronomy Manager Intern is a paid internship and will assist in the raising of corn, soybeans and hard red spring wheat on a family-owned farm near East Grand Forks, MN. The intern has the responsibility of assisting with field operations and crop monitoring along with other related tasks for raising a productive and profitable crop. This person will need to be knowledgeable in and be able to utilize various types of ag related technology. Various other job duties may be assigned and asked to be completed. This position may turn into a full-time job at the completion of the internship.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Responsibilities:
Monitor and collect data on fields and generate reports from scouting and other various types of field data collection (soil, tissue, imagery)
Know the various plant stages in corn, soybeans and hard red spring wheat
Spend time in-field with agronomist and salespeople
Report timely and organized reports on field growth stages and other items to note
Work with agronomist and/or salespeople on producing application recommendations including proper timing
Work closely with Operations Manager to coordinating proper field application timing in relation to recommendations
Work with salespeople on obtaining product inventory for field applications approved by Operations Manager and agronomist
Assist in creating and implementing various types of test plots (both large and small scale)
Monitor, document and track various large-scale or small-scale test plots and their progress including final results
Secondary Responsibilities:
Assist in the seeding, application of products, and/or harvest of crops
Perform other general farm work activities as directed including but not limited to operating various types of farm equipment
All other duties assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Being a team player
A willing attitude to be taught and trained
Must have completed a form of crop and weed identification class
A valid drivers license
Applicant should be actively working towards or have a completed degree in agronomy, ag-business or have prior ag-related experience that would be able to complete the duties and responsibilities of the position
