Summary

CHS Inc. has an exciting opportunity in our Global Grain & Processing business unit. We are looking for a Sr. Construction Project Manager to assist in the management of the CHS Construction department projects. Position will work in collaboration with the Construction Department Manager on the planning, design & execution support of construction projects. Will aid in orchestrating multiple projects with numerous specialized contributors including engineers, equipment manufacturers, construction companies, local utilities, local management, and others as needed. Will provide expertise in the refining and improving processes in the construction area to find best practices, meet budget, and improve efficiencies to drive value for the business unit(s). Will provide leadership in the Department Manager's absence. This is a remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Plan assigned design and/or development projects by preparing engineering documents, calculations, drawings, material lists, construction schedules, operating instructions, and integrating plant controls and automation with emphasis on achieving optimum processing efficiency, reducing energy and material costs and adhering to safety requirements
  • Research and properly evaluate the most cost-effective repairs/improvements while resulting in maximum efficiency
  • Work any 3rd party engineering vendors to facility the design of construction projects
  • Provide project management support to construction managers and help organize each step of the construction process prior to construction starting
  • Initiate purchase requisitions and help select equipment for projects
  • Coordinate the communication involving projects with the supervisor, engineering team (Plant, Project, Process and Controls), facility department managers, and outside consulting agencies to maintain understanding of appropriate parties
  • Champion Safety and Environmental considerations during initial design as well as during construction, report all Safety/Environmental violations as required to Site EHS
  • Projects may be up to and over $100 million in capital spend
  • Manage project FEL budgeting process by developing accurate estimates and forecasting spend
  • Champion continuous improvement and Lean initiatives

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in Construction Project Management

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in construction projects for plant, process or project engineering in a food, energy, and commodity processing environment
  • Experience leading large scale construction projects ($500K to $100MM)
  • Experience leading multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to influence across the enterprise
  • PMP Training or Certification
  • MBA or advanced degree
  • Lean Training or Certification
  • Experience with CAD

Physical Requirements

  • Up to 30% travel will be required based on location and project types
  • Work may be required on weekends and holidays as required/assigned
