Premier Marine is a leading pontoon boat builder located in Wyoming, Minnesota. We've built a world class team and are looking for self-motivated individuals who understand the value of a strong work ethic, teamwork, and integrity in the workplace. We will be opening a brand new state of the art facility in Big Lake, Minnesota and will be relocating in summer of 2022.


Premier Marine is seeking an energetic Purchasing Buyer to join our team. We seek a problem solver who is comfortable quickly analyzing circumstances and recommending solutions and improvements. A superior proficiency creating new analysis with Excel and other analytical tools is mandatory for success in this role.


Our Purchasing Buyer is responsible for planning and procuring materials, supplies, and services for the company while meeting established quality, cost, and delivery requirements. The buyer/planner position manages the operational flow of items including material acquisition, inventory reconciliation, and inventory phase-out and obsolescence minimization in addition to reaching out frequently to suppliers, the person in this role must be very comfortable meeting and working with co-workers across functional areas at all levels of the organization.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Inventory Management

  • Utilize system reports as well as experience and judgment to order materials to meet sales requirements.
  • Submit purchase orders for materials, establish priorities to meet customer orders, and resolve shipping or billing issues.
  • Proactively identify product availability issues and provide supply status and shipment tracking to internal partners.
  • Maintain accurate system planning parameters per established processes, including recommending process improvements to improve efficiencies.
  • Analyze forecast accuracy and other key supply chain factors to drive appropriate safety stock levels.

Product Analysis and Process Improvement Opportunities

  • Optimize material costs through vendor analysis, problem solve, identify, and implement cost savings initiatives surrounding product cost, transportation cost, and freight terms.
  • Analyze safety stocks, manage material inventory, support demand planning, and provide backup coverage for other purchasing functions.
  • Initiate total cost analysis to understand and balance inventory and replenishment requirement along with transportation, expediting, owned inventory and warehousing expenses to enable an informed decision for Supply Chain leaders.
  • Advanced knowledge of supplier end to end processes from raw material procurement to finished good production as well as lead times associated.
  • Deep understanding of supplier capacity and constraints.
  • Manage and report on key performance indicators for all critical suppliers.
  • Drive collaboration with suppliers and internal customers.

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Provide leadership in the preparation for and/or participation in supplier negotiations.
  • Execute supplier performance initiatives to improve vendor accountability.
  • Resolve customer service or product quality issues and complaints by identifying root cause and ensuring appropriate actions are taken with suppliers as needed including charge backs from customers and expedited freight charges.
  • Work with accounts payable to investigate, problem solve, and resolve vendor billing discrepancies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in supply chain, operations, logistics, materials management, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years directly related experience in purchasing, production planning/scheduling, or inventory management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • APICS certification (CSCP or CPIM), CPP or CPM certification preferred.
  • Superior problem-solving skills.
  • High level of expertise with Excel.
  • Proficiency in MRP/ERP systems.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment, and ensure timely completion of responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
