Head of Internal Developer Platform, Product

Our Developer Platform Shield Platform builds foundational systems that supports our emerging, fully modernized ecosystem of tools and processes that facilitates execution and innovation across the bank. The platform consists of dozens of shared platform services fused into a coherent developer experience with automated workflow and a single console that serves as a point of engagement for U.S. Bank engineering teams.

This Head of Product will lead the product strategy for our platform organization, drive our platform-level quarterly planning process, mentor and promote product leadership and process within our platform teams, and address prioritization challenges that emerge balancing tactical and strategic business objectives supported by technology. An ideal candidate will identify and promote metrics to manage the program while communicating to leaders and partners. They'll work with engineering leadership to identify opportunities to leverage and contribute to open source in our core platforms.

Finally, they will oversee the end-to-end product management for an internal technology platform product line(s), all to ensure the delivery capabilities while improving the efficiency and quality of engineering executions. They will be the primary executive to engage with key stakeholders to define, document, and prioritize features and collaborate with multiple agile scrum teams while driving the strategic vision, priorities, and roadmap for our platforms. They will influence the detailed functionality, user experience, and tradeoffs across platform teams and act as the business engineer to rationalize the use of data, changes to support processes, and bridging sprints to meet the needs of both customers and end users.

Job Responsibility

• Own the creation of the complete product/platform vision and multiyear roadmap for the US Bank internal engineering platform in partnership with Engineering teams, UX/design teams and business stakeholders
• Drive the execution of the US Bank Platform roadmap that enables engineering teams across the bank's core and digital ecosystems which includes our full consumer and corporate technology stacks.
• Work closely with senior technology and business leaders to identify company-wide priorities that drive priorities for platform features. Coordinate priorities across platform teams.
• Work closely with individual platform engineering teams and product managers to provide feedback and initiate feature requests; work closely with the engineering team to ensure that product requirements are understood.
• Understand larger Digital architecture and technology vision and define how the platform needs to evolve to support thousands of developers and millions of users around the world
• Manage technical considerations, working closely with engineering team to deliver elegant, generalizable solutions to complex problems
• Operate an agile development framework by defining user stories, planning sprints, and driving retrospectives.

Basic

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, a similar Engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience
• 10 or more years of related experience in modern Product Management
• At least 2 years of relevant management or leadership experience, preferably working within a larger organization on technology platforms targeting an internal or external developer community.

Preferred

• 5+ years working on technology platforms, microservice architectures, or cloud/SaaS products
• Strong product management design and/or development skills
• Proven ability to hire, develop, and promote product leaders
• Prior experience as a software engineer on scalable Front End or Back End technology stacks
• Experience working as an engineer or product manager in the context complex distributed systems, ideally inclusive of microservice architectures
• Understanding of the different components of the technology stack for a cloud-based application
• Knowledge of open-source technologies relevant to modern web, mobile and microservice standards/best practices
• Strong knowledge of technical product/program development, implementation, and strategic analysis
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
• Strong financial and competitive analysis, ROI calculations, and technical skills
