Basic Job Function
Under the direction of the Accounting & Tax Manager, the Staff Accountant handles preparing journal entries, detailed reports and account reconciliations. Assists with Accounts Payable processing and Cash Receipts applications when necessary. Also provides support to the month-end and year-end close processes.
The Staff Accountant is expected to actively take part in leading and contributing to the improvement of procedures and processes.
Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze monthly account reconciliations as assigned
Prepare and post journal entries
Fixed assets accounting and management
Outside Sales commissions accounting, payments, and reconciliations
Manage Petty Cash
Backup Accounts Payable and Cash Receipts
Assist with vendor and customer setups
Maintain/update relevant work instructions as processes are defined or changed
Assist with the annual audit
Assist with sales & use tax filings, maintenance of Vertex sales tax certificates
Perform ad-hoc reporting and analysis as requested
Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential
Contribute to continual business process improvement
Lead special projects as assigned by the Manager
Perform various other accounting duties as assigned
Required Skills
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience
3-5 years of general accounting experience (manufacturing environment preferred)
Understanding of general financial accounting and GAAP
Understanding of IFRS, preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Takes initiative
Exceptional diligence with attention to detail
Ability to work and collaborate with personnel at all levels within the organization/Team Player
Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred)
Intermediate Excel, and strong Microsoft Office skills
