Job Position: Energy Preconstruction Engineer/Designer

Purpose: The Preconstruction Engineer/Designer is facilitating all phases of preconstruction design review, finalizing BOM, and capturing design improvement implemented throughout construction.

Responsibilities

General Responsibilities:

Lead design reviews through the project life cycle.
Finalizing Bill of Materials for material procurement.
Works with Purchasing/Preconstruction/Construction/Estimating to review and approve equipment and material specifications.
Captures design improvements and ensures they are incorporated into future works
Seeks out opportunities for design improvement from parties
Works closely with the construction team to incorporate constructability feedback into future designs
Acts as a technical resource for construction and preconstruction teams
Leads design and page-turn meetings
Design Solar PV Systems, including 1-line diagrams, array layouts, fence layouts, road layouts, and string sizing
Perform energy modeling using PVsyst Software of Helioscope
Stay current on design techniques and construction strategies through continuing education via a variety of resources.
Maintain open communication lines with all working relationships.
Uphold the core values of the organization.

Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
Ability to work on tight deadlines under pressure.
Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.
Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Manage project files, drawings, documents & records in our project system.
Travel as job requirements necessitate.
Willing to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Additional duties as needed.

Specific Responsibilities
Support the CAD needs of the Preconstruction, Prefabrication, and Field construction teams, including but not limited to:

Create proposal-level PV designs
Build up KE PV Design Criteria
Create Install/Shop Drawing
Prepare Submittal Packages
Performs energy modeling in Helioscope or PVsyt
Perform takes for proposals and material procurement
As-Built Drawings
Maintain CAD file archives
Stay current with required training for the company's CAD requirements
Quality assurance of work product
Utilize and work within Procore for submittals and transmittals

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years' experience in PV construction management or PV Solar Design.
Self-starter and team player.
Knowledge of National Electric Code
Strong interpersonal, written, and Verbal skills including the ability to communicate positively with all project stakeholders
Knowledge of AutoCAD experience preferred.
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license that represents a history of safe & competent driving.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, walk, and sit for long periods of time
Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.
