Aging in Community Outreach Coordinator

Position Information Provide coordination and leadership of a volunteer program for the Aging in Community (AIC) Program, which is a grant-funded initiative to assist rural communities in responding to the needs of their older residents and their family members.

Essential Functions

1. Develop, coordinate, and facilitate volunteer services associated with AIC.

2. Provide input and assistance with events hosted by AIC.

3. Collaborate on marketing opportunities with local news outlets. Assist with social media marketing for the AIC program.

4. Promote the Aging in Community Program to area citizen groups (as potential clients) and civic organizations, churches, and businesses (as potential volunteers and supporters)

5. Coordinate other volunteer program services (minor home repair, yard work, assistance with errands, friendly visits, commodities delivery, etc.)

6. Recruit new volunteers, conduct volunteer training and maintain liability information (background checks, release of liability forms, confidentiality forms, etc.)

7. Maintain client data (online scheduling calendar, client documentation software, volunteer records, mileage & hours, etc.)

8. Work with the AIC Program Team for volunteer appreciation throughout the year (birthday and holiday cards, etc.) and coordinate annual Volunteer Appreciation event/recognition

9. Network and collaborate with other service providers and community groups to provide resources and information to meet the needs of older community members

10. Provide transportation in some special situations

Skills and Qualifications
  • Understanding of rural way of life
  • Compassion for older adults
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new programs (Microsoft office, client software, social media, etc.)
  • Ability to work autonomously, yet function as part of the AIC Program Team
  • Leadership skills necessary to develop and expand the Volunteer Program
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • High School Diploma required, Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance
