As part of CR, the Target Foundation focuses on where to best allocate funds to support various programs and initiatives. Or you might assist with sustainable global sourcing practices, and projects that foster environmental responsibility and ways to minimize our footprint at both the macro and store levels. Whatever your role with CR, you'll help influence how Target leverages its distinctive brand and unparalleled resources to set the bar for responsible, sustainable and charitable business practices.

In this newly created role, you will drive the alignment and execution of Target's Racial Equity Action and Change (REACH) strategy - our commitment to advance racial equity and help fuel economic prosperity for Black Americans. The successful candidate will have p assion for and a demonstrated commitment to pursuing racial equity through strategic partnerships and collaborations that address root causes of systemic inequalities in the communities we serve . We are looking for someone who will:
  • Champion and oversee our Communities Pillar's strategy within REACH , a catalyst for transformative change to eliminate barr iers, advance opportunity and equity and accelerate the company's path forward to promote sustainable economic progress and impact in Black communities.
  • Develop and execute a n annual investment approach, focused on Target's team members, guests and communities , to ensure strategic investment of our 5-year, $100M commitment to support Black-led nonprofits and businesses is realized .
  • Work collaboratively with Community Impact Directors to ensure a strategic, collaborative approach with intentional intersectionality of wo rk to benefit Black communities, aligned to our Target Forward Ambitions. This will require a solid understanding of systems change, place-based and national philanthropic grantmaking and investing.
  • Lead development of administrative and reporting activities for the REACH PMO including, but not limited to storytelling, creating and ma naging timely, detailed reporting to REACH Committee, other internal executives, shareholders and our BOD, as well as capturing and highlighting current successes and pending , pipeline investments.
  • In partnership with Director, Corporate Citizenship, serve as an internal spokesperson and REACH SME.
  • Proactive engagement with internal partners and team members:
  • Regularly update the REACH Committee and C R leadership team on progress related to the REACH strategic goals performance .
  • Develop relationships and collaborate with key business leaders (e.g., DEI, External Engagement, HR, Government Affairs, Legal, Merchandising, TA, etc.) and other colleagues to influence, partner and co-create relative to our aspiration to ensure integration, coordination and compliance of the REACH agenda to help advance the work.
  • Drive the portfolio development process, including RFP development, grantee identification, program design, and portfolio selection :
  • Develop measurement plans to evaluate the effectiveness of the portfolio, participate in the evaluation of the results and iterate approach as needed based on findings
  • Direct the efficient flow of grants through their life cycles, ensuring proposal and reporting compliance, adherence to grant agreements, and timely and accurate processing
  • Execute vetting process and initial due diligence for identified non-profit/NGO partners
  • Manage portfolio budget allocated to focus areas
  • Seek and apply best and emerging practices, within and beyond the industry, to adapt, as appropriate, for our objectives.
  • Contribute to and maintain a positive team culture by demonstrating behaviors consistent with Target's values of Inclusivity, Connection and Drive.
  • Other accountabilities include ownership for process and procedure development, adherence, management and quality review for programs under your management.

About You:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or other relevant field of study and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience, with 8+ years of experience in the philanthropic, non-profit or corporate giving sector; experience working in the private or public sector on issues of racial equity, economic vitality an d community-based impact a plus
  • 5+ years of d emonstrated leadership in DEI philanthropy , wealth-building and/or economic investment areas with significant experience working in or with leading nonprofit, government, corporate , and/or philanthropic leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about aligning philanthropic investments to support an inclusive economy; d eep knowledge of and experience related to workforce development, small business, financial capability, affordable housin g, and/or community development
  • Self-directed and h ighly organized with the ability to independently adapt, prioritize and successfully manage multiple tasks or projects in response to changing , ambiguous or competing priorities
  • Demonstrated strategic skills with the ability to assess and challenge the current state, develop new approaches and solutions, and identify the tactics necessary to drive a successful implementation
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to operate and meet goals in highly dynamic, ambiguous environmen ts
  • Proven ability to represent Target and Corporate Responsibility with high level internal and external stakeholders; ability to collaborate and engage with external partners (e.g., NGOs, foundations and other corporate foundations)
  • Ability to develop effective and collaborative relationships with key business leaders in order to drive accountability, instill confidence, and influence outcomes across business functions and all levels of Target Team Member
  • Ability to develop effective written and verbal communications and presentations; strength in distilling large volumes of information into clear, concise and actionable communications
  • Proactive and growth mindset; curiosity and drive to listen and learn to and from our team members and the communities Target serves; and a passion for leading with equity and driving community impact
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build partnerships in an efficient and effective manner across teams and levels .
This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location . A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

The salary range is $85,400-$153,700.
