POSITION: Admission Financial Representative

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: .75-1.0 FTE (60-80 hours per pay period)

WORK SCHEDULE: Days, Evenings, Nights, every other weekend

DEPARTMENT: Patient Access

JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for scheduling appointments received by phone, fax, electronic or in person. They are responsible for verifying insurance, assuring that registrations are completed with accurate data. They are responsible for initiating referrals and financially securing accounts.

JOB DUTIES:
1. Demonstrate proficiency in the scheduling of patient appointments. This includes following principals of scheduling with the required information populated.
2. Verify insurance, patient information, guarantor and account information at the time of scheduling.
3. Confirms provider appointments by calling patients to remind them of appointment time and location, and manages rescheduling appointment if necessary.
4. Arrive all patients for scheduled appointments. This includes obtaining the necessary consents, signature and documents from the patient. Verify that the patient and insurance verification has been done.
5. Collect any co-pays at the time of service.
6. Identify any potential coverage issues or self-pay issues. Engage the financial advocates if appropriate.
7. Demonstrate sound customer service in face to face and phone contact with the patient/family and GICH staff.
8. Demonstrate the ability to accurately enter patient information and scan required documents in the computerized scheduling system.
9. Daily completion of patient and claim edit work queues to improve the revenue cycle.
10. Collaborates with the business office, financial advocates and the Designated Authorization Group (DAG) to support the revenue cycle.
11. Monitor the order and cleanliness of the lobby and waiting areas. Notify housekeeping if any tasks need to be completed to maintain customer safety in these areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 18 years of age or older
2. One or more years customer service experience
3. 1+ years of applicable computer knowledge
4. Previous experience in a clinical setting with registration preferred.
5. Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred
6. Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills.
7. Adhere to all Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies.
8. Maintains consistent and reliable attendance.
