Description

Practice-Based Research Network (PBRN) Associate Director position Purpose:
  • Conduct human subjects research in the Grand Forks clinical research unit and across the North and South Dakota-wide research network. This will involve a combination of patient recruitment, direct patient care, monitoring patient entry into research protocols across the network, monitoring site and investigator compliance with relevant regulations and protocols.
  • Manage the development and implementation of research protocols across the clinical research network and the practice-based research network, including helping to design multi-institutional research protocols, writing applications to both the UND IRB and tribal IRBs as required, preparing applications for and negotiating with the FDA and other relevant federal government authorities, negotiating affiliation agreements with institutions participating in the network and managing the budget for both the overall network and each individual study. This individual will also be responsible for developing local and network-wide policies and procedures that will include adverse event reporting, patient safety, and data safety and sharing protocols.
  • Train investigators and research support staff for the above. Supervise research support staff as required.

  • The primary purpose of the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences is to educate physicians and other health professionals and to enhance the quality of life in North Dakota. The primary purpose of the PBRN is to conduct and fund multi-institutional human studies that will benefit the people of North Dakota.

    The main functions and mission of our research network fall into three categories:
  • Improve patient care by facilitating research and coordinating research in a planned clinical research unit
  • Managing the network of research protocols across the AICORN and its network of clinical research units, including helping to design multi-institutional research protocols, helping to write protocols for the IRB and FDA, negotiating affiliation agreements and managing budgets for such studies, monitoring patient entry into such protocols, monitoring compliance
  • Training of investigators and research support staff.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Conduct human subjects research in the Grand Forks clinical research unit and across the North and South Dakota-wide research network
      • Recruit patients into research protocols
      • Interact with stakeholders across the region
      • Conduct patient care for research
      • Develop systems to monitor patient enrollment and data recording
      • Monitor site and investigator compliance
    • Manage the development and implementation of research protocols across the clinical research network and the practice-based research network
      • Develop local and network-wide policies and procedures
      • Help design multi-institutional research protocols
      • Write and prepare applications
      • Manage a budget
      • Assist in statistical analysis and grant and manuscript preparation
    • Train investigators and research support staff. Supervise research support staff.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Master's degree.
    • Active independent RN license.
    • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience.
    • Minimum of 2 years administrative experience.
    • Experience managing large groups of people.
    • Successful criminal history check.

    In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with community engagement.
    • Experience with clinical research project management.
    • Experience with budget management.
    • Experience with information systems (i.e. REDCap)
    • UND and SMHS administrative, travel, accounting, purchasing, human resource, and affirmative action policies and procedures.
    • Knowledge of and experience with PeopleSoft software, forms, and procedures.
    • Experience with Adobe Acrobat and DocuSign.


    Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

    $87,000+ / year depending on education and experience; exempt; benefited; full-time

    Work Schedule

    Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm
