Mechanical Designer

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Designer/Drafter actively utilizes Computer Aided Drafting skills in a team environment to communicate system design information for ammonia refrigeration, process and mechanical utilities (MEP). Work activities involve design and drafting and interfacing with all members of the Gartner team and external parties including clients, subcontractors, consultants, vendors and others as necessary. Strong technical skills and the ability to create 2D and 3D construction drawings is necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Use AutoCAD MEP or Revit to generate 2D and 3D drawings used for fabrication of mechanical systems.
2. Use AutoCAD MEP to create process and instrumentation drawings.
3. Coordinate CAD drawing activities with engineering, clients, subcontractors, consultants and vendors.
4. Assist in the handling of project communications and document control related to pre-fabrication and construction drawings.
5. Compile project drawing documentation.
6. Support the engineering, sales, construction and service departments.
7. Provide complete and professional work results in accordance to Gartner and industry standards.
8. Perform necessary duties to assure Gartner safety and other policies and procedures are met.

Qualifications:

1. Associate of Applied Science in Mechanical Design/Drafting Degree or equivalent.
2. Minimum two (2) years drafting experience with MEP systems using AutoCAD MEP or Revit.
3. Working knowledge of construction plan reading and preparation of construction documents.
4. Experience with BIM coordination, 3D piping systems and piping and instrumentation diagrams preferred.
5. Must possess strong computer skills and proficiency in AutoCAD MEP, Revit, Microsoft Excel and Word.
6. Must be self-motivated, driven, and able to work with limited supervision.
7. Must be a team player with a willingness to help others in project delivery.
