The Center for Rural Health (CRH) National Resource Center on Native American Aging (NRCNAA) conducts the Identifying our Needs: A Survey of Elders with Tribal Title VI programs and the Native Urban Elders Needs Assessment Survey (NUENAS) with Urban Indian Organizations (UI)) throughout the nation. As part of these efforts, the NRCNAA works in partnership with these organizations to administer surveys, analyze data, develop data deliverables (fact sheets, policy briefs, infographics, and reports), and disseminates results to stakeholders and diverse audiences.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support and execute research activities.
  • Clean and analyze data.
  • Assist with scanning surveys using optical scanner.
  • Conduct focus groups, key informant interviews and listening sessions with oversight from the PI.
  • Administer paper copy and on-line surveys.
  • Provide technical assistance and research support to tribal and urban center stakeholders serving Native Aging populations.
  • Assist the project PI in developing methods and means of analysis for projects.
  • Assist with analysis of interviews, listening sessions, and/or focus groups.
  • Public speaking (presentations).
  • Strengthen relations with tribal and urban center stakeholders and partners at the federal, tribal, and state levels serving Native Aging populations.
  • Disseminate research findings, as needed.
  • Assist with special projects related to program objectives, as needed.


Required Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid report writing skills.
  • Experience in quantitative analysis using SPSS or other statistical software.
  • Experience using computers/software, including the Microsoft Office Suite.


Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with complex data sets and preparing written conclusions based on data findings.
  • Research and/or research support experience.
  • Successful completion of criminal history background check.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience working with research and data specific to Indigenous populations.
  • Experience in community engagement with Indigenous populations.
  • Demonstrate a minimum of 2 years of successful work relationships and/or other non-work connections and interactions with Indigenous populations.
  • Experience presenting information to diverse populations.
  • Experience working with an optical scanner.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Native Elder issues, policy, and aging health research.


Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

Salary ranges between $22.00-$25.00/hour depending on qualifications. Position is Part-Time, Non-Benefited, Temporary (at least through April 31, 2023).

Work Schedule

Part-time, up to 20 hours per week. Work schedule is negotiable. Start date is as soon as possible.
