Salary: $54,276.00 - $67,800.00 annually based on experience/qualifications

An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in media production, communications, journalism, mechanical design, or equivalent experience or training in engineering, sales or technical service is required, plus five years technical writing experience.

The Technical Writer position is at our Appleton WI facility

Responsibilities:

Compiles, writes, edits, illustrates, and formats technical information to produce operation, training, maintenance, and parts manuals for all product lines.
Converts technical information into electronic or hard copy format, as specified by customers.
Developing, writing, and editing material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications.
Observes manufacturing activities to determine operating procedure and detail. Interviews production, service, and engineering personnel to become familiar with product technologies and production methods.
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mock-ups, and product samples to integrate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail.
Supports Service Technicians and Call Center Personnel.
Reviews CMD materials and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding.
Maintains records and files of work and revisions.
Investigates, evaluates, and recommends competitive translation means and services, to prepare CMD manuals for use in international markets.

Job requirements:

Occasional travel required
May require in excess of a 40-hour week.
Must be able to prepare manuals and other materials dealing with the training, installation, operation, maintenance and/or repair products for customers, distributors, dealers and/or the company's own service personnel.
Mechanical aptitude with an extensive working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems, video equipment and photography essential.
Position requires extensive technical writing background with good writing skills.
Must understand and read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
Must be proficient in related publishing software.

Relative Experience/Industries:

Technical Writing (Engineering, Sales, or Technical Service)

Transferable Skills:

Degree in Media Production, Communications, Journalism, or Mechanical Design plus 5 years technical writing experience.
Equivalent experience or training in Engineering, Sales or Technical Service plus 5 years technical writing experience.
