The Accounting Manager - GL Standardization Project Manager will support the newly created transformation team within Optum Care. The role will partner with various stakeholders across the business and focus on strategic priorities and initiatives focused on growing our business, driving process improvement & GL standardization, and increasing the value derived from payer agreements in a complex, rapidly changing marketplace.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities to produce financial statements and reports
  • Performing appropriate Intercompany and eliminations accounting and analysis
  • Prepare monthly report out of progress and status of GL Standardization
  • Coach business partners on appropriate GL code usage
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretations
  • Perform work in a self-directed manner and work with less structured, more complex issues
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to other staff
  • Develop innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectiveness
  • Provide leadership on projects and initiatives to improve the accounting and finance function

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years demonstrated progression in Accounting
  • Experience successfully managing multiple requests, assessing priorities and achieving solutions under deadlines
  • Advanced level of proficiency with Excel (experience with large data sets)
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with PowerPoint (Experience presenting)
  • Advanced analytical and information gathering skills; ability to evaluate and prioritize extensive detailed data
  • Intermediate level of working knowledge of GAAP; ability to effectively use accounting knowledge to collaborate with varying levels of employees and senior management to drive sound business decisions
  • Ability to lead large scale project and effectively communicate findings and progress to management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or equivalent licensure or certification
  • Public Accounting
  • Project Management experience
  • Healthcare Experience
  • SQL

Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada/New York City residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
